Private Wedding Band Classes
Since the ancient Romans the wedding band has been a symbol of the cycle of life and eternity – a public pledge between two people to be honoured forever. As the most important symbol of a marriage, why not create your own?

With the help of Master Goldsmith Dino Giannetti, design and craft your very own wedding bands over the course of our one-day wedding band workshop.

This workshop includes a one-hour consultation in preparation for the workshop in which you will meet with Dino to discuss the style and various materials (gold or silver) available for making your wedding bands. We encourage you to bring any photos or sketches of styles you prefer.

Private Wedding Band classes run Saturday afternoons from 11am - 4pm.
Wedding Band Gift Certificates are available.

Cost per couple: $350 plus HST (includes all tools but does not include the cost of metals)

Weekend Workshops
A gift for yourself or for someone special, create your very own silver pendant, earrings, band, or all three!

In this class you will saw, pierce, print, polish, and solder a sterling silver pendant, earrings, band or all three in this afternoon class. Absolutely no experience necissary.

Classes run on Saturday afternoons from 11 - 4pm.
A maximum of 5 students per class.
Next class: February 4th and 18th.

Cost per student: $150 plus HST (includes all tools and materials)

Bench Rentals

Beginning October 1, 2011 18Karat will begin to rent benches to trained silver and goldsmiths on a full-time, part-time, and daily basis at our shop located at 275 Dundas Street West.

Bench Rental Information
Benches will be available for rent at 18Karat on a full-time, part-time, and daily basis based on availability.

Equipment:
The following equipment will be provided or made available for use within the studio. All hand tools will be the responsibility of each individual renter.

Safety and Security:
All new renters will be required to take a safety tour of the studio – including the locations of first aid equipment, extinguishers, panic buttons and security procedures.

All renters will be provided with a locked cupboard to store materials and tools.
18Karat is not responsible for damaged or lost personal belongings.

Consultations and Suppliers:
Dino Giannetti ’s Master Goldsmith is available to all bench renters on an advisory basis. Renters facing technical concerns will b– 18Karate able to book consultations with Dino Giannetti, who has over 40 years of goldsmithing experience.

Dino will also host a weekly mini-demonstration that will cover a variety of technical issues – from construction to repairs. Renters can choose to attend all of these demonstrations or only those of interest to them.

18Karat can also assist renters in securing materials, equipment, supplies and services that may not be available to independent jewellers.

Custom Work
All in-house jewellers operate as independent business owners and are in no way subsidiaries of 18Karat. Renters are not required to offer custom work.

Bench renters can book client consultations in 18Karat’s meeting area through a program such as Google Calendar during normal retail hours.

Renters interested in custom commissions must provide 18Karat with appropriate high-resolution digital images and artist statement to be used for portfolio purposes.

New clients to 18Karat who do not request a particular in house jeweller and are seeking custom work using materials and methods not supported by 18Karat – e.g. silver and beading will be referred to jewellers portfolios to select the artist they would like to work with.

18Karat assumes no responsibility over the work created by the bench-renters.

Full-Time Bench Rentals

Scheduling:
Full time renters are renters who have full access to their own bench and all equipment provided by 18Karat.

Full-time renters will have 24hour access to the studio, however due to the constraints put on the studio based on the Village by the Grange’s operating schedule – renters will not be able to enter the studio after 10.30 pm when the mall closes. Renters who arrive before 10.30pm will be able to remain in the studio for the remainder of the evening but will be automatically locked out of the mall complex once they exit the Village by the Grange.

Although full-time renters have 24hr. access to the studio, they will not be allowed to meet with clients during off-retail hours – unless an exception is made. This is to ensure the safety and security of 18Karat and jewellers.

Renting:
Full-time monthly bench rentals will cost $350 per month plus HST ($395.50) and will require a three-month commitment to begin. Renters must give 30-days notice before leaving the studio.

New renters will also have a 10 day trial period in order to access the studio space before being locked into the three-month commitment.

Full-time renters will also be required to pay a $30 key deposit to be returned along with the key at the end of the rental period.

Part-Time Bench Rentals

Scheduling:
Part-time renters will share a bench with one other renter and will have full access to the studio and equipment provided by 18Karat, during their scheduled hours.

Part-time renters will be able to access the studio three-days a week from 9.30am – 6pm. Renters will have to organize and negotiate their schedules with their fellow renter through a program such as Google Calendar. 18Karat is not responsible for scheduling but will function as a mediator in the event of disputes.

Renting:
Part-time monthly bench rentals will cost $200 per month plus HST ($226) and will require a three-month commitment to begin. Renters must give 30-days notice before leaving the studio.

New renters will also have a 10 day trial period in order to access the studio space before being locked into the three-month commitment.

The studio will be closed Sundays and holidays to all part-time renters, although exceptions may be made on an individual basis at 18Karat’s discretion.

Daily Bench Rentals
Benches are available for rent on a daily basis and are subject to availability.

Daily renters will have access to the studio from 9.30am – 6pm on the day of their rental.

Daily rentals are available for $40 per day plus HST ($45.20).
